Dec. 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29

Fri., Dec. 3, 8:30 pm
L Shaped Lot

“Their music is a laid-back mix of Americana, a loose blend of folk and bluegrass with rich harmonies. They’ve got a solid body of originals that moves from country sing-alongs and barroom stompers to narrative stories with great hooks. And best of all, they groove together like a band that’s been playing together for years. ” DB – High Country News

.

Sat., Dec. 4
Johnson’s Crossroad w/The Wild Rumpus

Johnson’s Crossroad: Formed some six years ago in the mountains of West Virginia and tested by over half a decade on the road, the passion that Minguez and Johnson share for their own acoustic crossroad – a meeting place of honest, soulful music that draws deeply from bluegrass, old country, and Appalachian old time – has brought Johnson’s Crossroad to the forefront of the North Carolina music scene.

The Wild Rumpus: Wild Rumpus blends “traileresque” orchestral and operatic melodies with the stylings of authentic rock’n’roll, pop, and electronic music. It’s our own interpretation on trailer music that uses a rather unique approach to the composition and production of very slammin’ tracks.

Thu., Dec. 9
Screen Door Porch

The duo of Screen Door Porch—Seadar Rose and Aaron Davis—deliver groove-injected Alt-Folk and soulful Americana, garnished with multi-instrumentation. This roots music combined with ambient textures, dirty slide guitar, and country-sweet harmonies outline a sound that is not quite acoustic.

Sat., Dec. 11
Hackens Boys

The Hackens Boys hit “Southern Rock Can’t Die” shares a spot with Molly Hatchet’s, “Somer’s Song” on the newly released Stone Ground and Southern Compilation; Vol. 5. Go to www.swampland.com for more details on the compilation album and see The Hackens Boys album review!

South 85

.

.

.

With roots deep in the Carolinas, South85 blends country, folk, southern rock, and bluegrass to give you a listening experience that you won’t soon forget. Driven by the original songwriting of Kathy Neal and the voice of Tracy Wyatt, South85 is in a classification all their own – radio worthy songs along with an atmosphere of a back-porch jam.

Thu., Dec. 23

July 29, 2010 UTAH GREEN

From the hills of western North Carolina, Utah Green follows her heart and soul on the musical journey that she has undertaken. Offering her passion for life’s experiences and the songs that come as a result of them, Green’s soulful folk sound has been heard from Asheville, North Carolina to Ketchikan, Alaska; New Orleans, Louisiana to San Cristobal de Las Casas in Mexico.

Her lighthearted sound and appreciation for traditional m…ountain and sea songs, Utah is a song painter, a story singer, a smile maker, and a tearjerker. Influenced by people of all walks, Utah finds inspiration through travel and performance. She seeks to communicate her stories through songs and smiling eyes.

July 30, 2010 MIC HARRISON & THE HIGH SCORE

Country Music from Knoxville,TN

Music that anyone who’s ever held down a job and relied on music for spiritual release can relate to.
Harrison’s new album “On The Right Side of The Grass” is about the kind of characters who know that any day that you can look forward to a soft bed rather than a dirt nap is a blessing. When Harrison sings about having nothing but “a pocket full of sawdust” the former sawmill employee knows exactly …what he’s singing about. The subject of “He Gets High” is that guy everyone has worked with at least once: the man who “never missed a day of work” and never spent a day completely sober either — “he gets high, but he gets by.”
